Troops Off Wall

In the mobile strategy game Last War: Survival, taking your troops “off the wall” means removing your squads from your base’s defensive lineup so they do not engage when an enemy attacks

🛡️ Preventing Hospital Overflow

The single most important reason to take your troops off the wall is to prevent hospital overflow, which results in the permanent death of your army.

  • How Defense Works: When you leave squads on the wall to defend, a massive number of your troops participate in the battle. If a much stronger player (a “whale”) attacks your base, they will easily defeat your squads and send thousands of your troops to the hospital.
  • The Danger of Overflow: Once your hospital reaches its maximum capacity, any additional injured troops have nowhere to go and will die permanently. If you are hit multiple times while offline or overpowered, your entire army can be completely wiped out in seconds.

📉 Minimizing Total Troop Losses

Leaving your walls undefended actually results in fewer casualties if you cannot win the fight.

  • Fixed Casualties: If an enemy breaches your base while your troops are off the wall, they do not fight. Instead, you only lose a small, fixed percentage of the base units straight from your drill grounds (usually around 300 to 600 troops per hit, depending on tech levels).
  • Resource Preservation: Rebuilding thousands of high-tier troops takes days of recruitment time and massive amounts of resources. Taking the minor hit to your drill grounds is significantly cheaper and faster to recover from.

🚫 Denying Points to the Enemy

During major server events like “Buster Day” or Alliance Duels, players actively hunt other bases to score points.

  • Opponents earn massive points by defeating and killing your troops.
  • If you take your squads off the wall, you deny the attacker the massive point payouts they would have received from wiping out your active defensive marches. Without the incentive of high points, enemies are far less likely to waste their stamina repeatedly attacking you.

💡 General Strategy Rules of Thumb

Hide or Shield: If you know you are outmatched and cannot be actively looking at your screen, the absolute best defense is to throw up a Peace Shield or use a random teleport to escape the area entirely.

Whales Only: Only players with incredibly high power should leave all squads on the wall to absorb and repel attacks.

The “One Squad” Compromise: Many mid-tier players leave only their single strongest squad on the wall to repel weaker scavengers, while keeping their second and third squads safe.
